Part of Prey not working Prey central server, I suppose
Could you please describe the problem?
There are two PCs in our office that appear to be linked somehow in Prey. The software (v. 1.7.3) can be installed on both machines independently, but only one will appear in our web console at a time. Reinstalling Prey on the "missing" machine will cause the other machine to disappear. It seems like Prey views these machines as the same device.
After the reinstall, we get a notification about a hardware change on the PC that's now in the list. Let's call this the "new PC" - the hardware change screen shows the "old PC's" specs on the left, and the "new PC's" specs on the right.
We do have the "Identify devices when linking" option turned off:
Neither of these desktop PCs was created with an image, and they were purchased several months apart. I can't confirm right now, but I believe they're different brands, as well. What is it that Prey is seeing such that it labels them as the same PC, and is there any way to force it to allow them both to be monitored?
