macOS - Prey working but showing old location

Let us help you. Please tell us about…

  • Affected device (desktop, laptop, tablet, phone): Macbook Pro
  • Operating system (Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS, Ubuntu, Fedora): MacOS
  • Part of Prey not working (Prey account, mobile app, a specific action or module, reports): Location

Could you please describe the problem?

Right now I’m at work and my Macbook’s location is showing as my home address. I click on “Update location”, there are no erros, it says “Got location”, but it remains at my home address.
If I open google maps and Apple maps, my location is being shown correctly.
I tried reinstalling prey, it did not change anything.

My macOS version is 10.14.4, prey is 1.8.3

here is the /var/log/prey.log after I reinstalled and tried two times to update the location

PREY 1.8.3 spreads its wings!

I figured it has to do with my company’s network. If I connect using my phone’s cellular network, the location updates fine.
If I log back to my company’s network, the location is reverted back to my home address!
Here we have a reverse proxy, could it be related? Maybe it’s caching my home location for some reason?
