I am helping a friend, who is always losing her iPhone at home, to set up Prey on her iPhone and iPad. I think Prey would be excellent as it works perfectly on my Android, but unfortunately, despite following the instructions for Apple devices, when we send a Test Alarm to the phone or iPad, there is a dummy text message but no alarm sound.
Is there something else I need to do?

Hi there,
That dummy text is to lure thieves into tapping the notification, so the Prey app starts running again on iOS. This happens when you trigger anything after the app was closed by the user. To prevent this, just don’t close the Prey process (by swiping the Prey window on the running apps list).
If you keep Prey running, or if you tap on that notification, the alarm will trigger. Give it a try
