By popular demand, the possibility of blocking the use of the power button on your Android 7 and 8 devices is back!
Version 2.3.2 of Prey for Android now allows you to block the use of the power button from your device. To use this functionality, follow these steps:
- Directly on your device, enter the Prey App and select the option “Settings”. Use your credentials and press “Login”
- In the option “Configure Protection” you can create your 4-digit PIN. You just have to select “Set Prey PIN” and choose a secret number that is easy for you to remember.
Don’t share your PIN with anyone!
- Activate the option “Prevent power off” as you can see in the following image.
And Done! If no one knows your PIN, nobody will be able to turn off your device.
This functionality is available for devices running Android 7 and 8.
We recommend that you keep the “Run in the background” toggle on, and accept all the permissions that the App requests for Prey to work properly.
If you previously had issues with the lock of the power button in versions 2.2.6, 2.2.7 or 2.2.8, don’t worry! We’ve made sure Prey stays bulletproof, and this won’t happen again. We will be monitoring this functionality closely, and we will keep you informed of any news.
