We’ve launched Prey for Android 2.2.9
Last week we informed of a bug where the Prey client caused a block screen that locked certain Android users from accessing their phones or tablets until a passkey was introduced. In order to improve the experience users have with Prey, we’ve launched a new version that prevents this from happening. In short:
- We took out the Power Off Button setting from all Android versions.
- We removed the Accessibility permissions for the affected Android versions (7 and 8).
- We eliminated the need for a PIN number or password for the client’s configuration.
- A native Lock screen has been implemented.
Version 2.2.9 is already available for download in the Google Play store.
If you experienced this bug you can now update your app to the latest version directly from the store.
Thank you for your patience, and we’re profoundly sorry for the inconveniences this bug may have caused.
Sincerely,
The Prey Team
