Yikes, can't proceed with the update

Could you please describe the problem?

I forgot that I had Prey installed on my PC laptop, so I downloaded a new free version (prey-windows-1.7.5-x86.exe) and tried to install it. I got the message:

Prey seems to be already installed. To continue, we first need to remove the existing version. Shall we proceed?

I clicked Yes and then got this message:

So I deleted everything in that folder – all 25,000+ items (!) and tried again. Same messages.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thank you for the explanation. I checked my DMs :slight_smile: and found messages I had read before, advising me to install a new version. I tried that when I first read the message and got the same response. I’ll try it again just for kicks.

It installed! Maybe the secret is to wait a month or so? I also note that it’s a newer version (1.8.1) than the one I tried to install earlier.
